Thank You to Our Sponsors - Alicia Brown Photography

Last, but not least, thank you to Alicia Brown Photography for donating a photo session with $100 print credit to the Camp auction.

I cannot sing the praises of Alicia, enough. She is my favorite photographer. My blog header is her handiwork. She loves to capture people being themselves in her photo-journalistic approach to portraits. She is relaxed, but professional. She is wonderful.

Please take a moment to check out her blog and support this wonderful wife and mother as she supplements the family income by doing something she loves - finding the beauty in each person.

Thanks Alicia!

Hydroponics isn't Just for Growing Pot... Thank You to Our Sponsors - Mountainview Gardens

Soooo, when someone used to mention hydroponics to me - all I could thing of were the grow lights under a dorm room bed and marijuana plants. (This being one of the first times innocent little me saw the grow operation in my dorm building )

As a responsible adult, I am privileged to know the founders and owners of Mountainview Gardens.

Darren & Keith are now providing delicious lettuce, cukes, tomatoes and other gourmet yumminess to local supermarkets, restaurants and farmers markets.

Their produce is fresh. It is organic - without paying the fee to actually be USDA approved organic and all sorts of wonderful.

Check out their website and next time you are at a fine dining establishment you may be savoring some of their gardens yield.

Thanks guys for giving SO much to camp! May you be blessed as you expand this summer!

Thank You to Our Sponsors - The Imagination Station

I am not being paid.

The Imagination Station is by far THE BEST toy store I have ever been in. They have an incredible assortment of toys. Not the made in China, lead paint toys, the good toys that foster creativity and often don't require batteries. There is a kids work bench that I am saving up to buy for my son for Christmas!

They generously gave a gift certificate to Camp. If you need toys - go here. There really is nothing that can compare in our area.

Thank You to Our Sponsors - Taco Del Sol

Taco Del Sol is my favorite - not fast food - fast food choice. Serving up delicious burritos and tacos with fresh ingredients - and they have a decent fish taco - which is hard to find in Montana!

I went in to see if I could hang a flyer for Camp. Here is the conversation:

Me (sheepishly): "Would it be okay if I hung up a flyer"
Clerk: "Ummm... let me ask"
Owner comes out: "It doesn't have any cuss words or anything, right?"
Me: "NO! It's for a Bible Camp. "
Owner: "Oh, sure, I love Bible Camps!"

I eat there even more than I used to! They generously gave 3 gift certificates! Hooray!

Thank you Taco Del Sol!

Thank You to our Sponsors - Delighted! by Sue @ The Barn

There is a great place a little off the beaten path in Bigfork, MT. It is called The Barn. It is filled with items I want. As I think more about this store, the more I know I cannot go visit with our available checking balance what it is.

The Barn has an eclectic mix of vendors to offer everything from custom art to antiques. There is something for every price range. My very sweet friend, Sue, creates AMAZING gift baskets and sells them at The Barn. She gave me one for my baby shower over a year ago and it was PERFECT! It was the "new mom" basket with things for me and things for the baby. I treasured each item in that basket.

For the Camp auction she donated a basket called "family fun night" that included too many things to list! The coolest thing. The person who bought it ended up giving us a check for more than 3 times the amount he won it for! Two generous people, one goal - to give kids a chance to find rest, joy and Christ at summer camp.

Thank you Sue & the crew at The Barn!

Thank You to our Sponsors - Bradley Massage

I have never had a professional massage. I never want a professional massage. I know, I know - if I had one I would love it - that is what you say. However, it creeps me out because it seems kind of intimate. I know I am weird.

If I ever was going to get a massage I would go to Bradley Massage. Douglas is a dear friend (and proud papa!) He and his wife decided that after baby Bradley came into the world that his lovely wife would become a stay at home mom! God has been faithful to them and they faithfully gave a gift certificate to the Camp auction! How generous is that?

Thanks Douglas!

Now it is your turn... the next time you are in Kalispell, Montana schedule yourself a massage with one of the best in the business! Here is the information:

Bradley Massage - 406-250-0707 (I wanted to link, but it looked like the site was having some issues. Hopefully by the time you read this, it will be up and running again!)

Pray for a Daughter and a Father

Just a quick note to ask you to pray for my sweet friend, Emmy. She is one of the most lovely women I have ever had the privilege of getting to know. I aspire to be like her in so many ways. She is full of grace, love, and compassion.

I have been fortunate to walk with her, a little way, through the last few months of her father's cancer. Her dad is one of those people that change your life, just by meeting him. His heart is full of love - just like his girl. But, the time is here. The cancer is robbing her of her daddy. He is close to the final goodbye.

We rejoice that finally the pain will end, but for those that remain, and his baby girl, the grief is coming to a climax. Please pray that she will be able to get to her father before he is gone. Pray that the plane tickets come through ASAP. Pray that her dad has the strength for one last goodbye - in person. Pray that he will be ready and she will be ready to let him go. Pray that the God of all comfort will comfort them now.

Thank You to our Sponsors - Damon Design

Damon Designs is a specialty metal works company in our area. The guys that work there are AMAZING - well - at least our pal, Jeff, who created a woodland scene candle holder for the auction. I really wanted it, but after outbidding a friend on a different item, I let her get a steal on this one.

I am so sorry that I didn't take pictures of these items - really, what was I thinking? Oh yeah - I was thinking... I hope the bounce house doesn't collapse, when is the BBQ gonna get here, I hope I don't get sun burnt, I need more deodorant, Edwin is in the Sumo Suits!, Where is my child....Ok... so my mind was elsewhere.

Now if you need metal work done... BIG or small... call these guys. The quality of their craftsmanship is worth the fee. You will leave with what your expectations met, if not exceeded.

Thanks guys for your help in making the auction profitable!

Thanks Jeff and Damon Design!

Family Dynamics

Let me tell you a story -

There were three families: Family A, Family B, and Family C. For the past two years Family A and Family B have taken a long weekend together for fun. (Note: we are family A) It has been king of "our thing" - at least in my mind. Enter Family C. Family C is a nice family. Family C recently spent over a week with Family B. Family B invited Family C to come on our long weekend. (I thought family C would decline) Family C is coming with us on the long weekend. Family C's family, because they are more high maintenance will require most of the attention from Family B. This means Family A's, awesome kid will not get much (if any) quality time with Family B. Family A really wants Family B to be a huge part of Family A's childs life, but unless we are without Family C this is highly unlikely.

I know it would have been extremely RUDE to not invite Family C. I hate that I am totally selfish and jealous. I hate that I secretly hope that Family C has something that comes up and they are unable to attend the long weekend. I hate that I secretly resent Family C for hogging Family B. I am a bad person. I am a selfish person. I wish I were not like this. The worst part... I am horrible at not letting my emotions show. I will probably look pissed off the entire time. Heaven help me.

Any advice? Or anyone willing to sabotage Family C's plans to tag along?

Thank You to our Sponsors - The Gift Gal

Our second "Thank You" goes to the Gift Gal, Angie.

She like Lisa, had never heard of us. She prayed about it and said yes! She donated a lovely bracelet from the Gurrlie Girl Jewelry line that she sells. I wish I had a picture, but you will just have to head over to her site and check out the wonderful gift baskets that she creates for people! The wonderful thing is that she can create a basket for every price range and it saves you all that work of shopping around for all the "perfect" things. (This especially appeals to me since my little dude is super fun to shop with - kidding of course)

Next time you don't have the time to spend all week shopping around check out Angie's business and let her do the work!

Thanks Angie!

Thank You to our Sponsors

Last weekend was the Big Sky Bible Camp Kick-off.

This was the first event of its kind. The first party I have ever planned. The first time I asked God everyday to help me accomplish what He wanted me to accomplish for this event. The first time I felt relaxed when the time actually came.

Praise to The One who made the event a success.

The event was to celebrate our summer season starting... but really I was hoping to introduce people to this ministry. I also hoped to raise some money. We did receive several donations that were auctioned off to fund the event and help send kids to camp.

Over the next few days I would like to highlight these businesses - local and not so local - as an expression of appreciation to these people who didn't turn me down when I asked. These people generously gave what they could and because of them kids get to enjoy the beauty of God's creation and experience the love of Christ poured out through the staff.

Today's "Thank You" goes to Lisa Leonard.

The only way you may not have already heard about her is :
1. You are not a mom blogger
2. You do not know a mom blogger
3. You hate jewelry.

She donated this necklace with a pearl. It was wonderful! I looked at it everyday until I had to hand it over to the winner.
sea star necklace
She does excellent work.

She has a generous heart. Even though she had no idea who I was or what BSBC was, she said yes...AND even though she was swamped with orders people actually paid for, she made the time to send us out a beautiful piece of jewelry.

SO... I think you should go over and check out her things, because she is a woman worth supporting.

I Heart Camp

I have been busy, busy, BUSY preparing for the Big Sky Bible Camp Summer Kick-Off. It's tonight, 4:30, be there or be square. Food, games, auction goodies - we've got it all. It is also a great time to promote the non-profit that I adore.

Good thing The Diaper Diaries is having a big 'ol bloggy carnival so I can share my undying love for this Camp.

It was founded in 1947 by two ladies who traveled west, listened to God, and had hearts moved with compassion for the children in Montana. Now Big Sky Bible Camp hosts over 500 campers a summer and many more through retreat groups that come during the other 3 seasons.

Check out the website and if you feel moved to be involved you can donate here (at our parent missions page). Make sure to let them know that it is for Big Sky Bible Camp! This year we face new challenges with more needy families applying for scholarships and a HUGE staff turnover since, well, I had a baby and several other couples retired and moved on to different ministries.

Pray for the staff as they desire to share the love of Christ and power of the Gospel with hundreds of kids in the next three months. Pray that we will have all the staff we need - especially for our High School week and the two weeks of Camp Promise (Camp Promise weeks are for people with disabilities and we almost triple our normal operating staff numbers). Pray for our backpackers as they head into the wilderness. Pray for our speakers as they share the Truth with these kids. Pray for our full time staffers as they seek God's wisdom and endurance (as well as financial support from people like you!).

And, if you are ever in Northwest Montana ... stop by for a visit.

***Please excuse all spelling and grammar and run on sentences...etc. I am so busy! And in such a HURRY! I wish I could write a more heart wrenching post about all that is great about Big Sky, but that will have to be another day. You can see a few pictures of my time as a Camp Director at Big Sky here. Thanks for stopping by. I also don't know what the deal is with the weird font colors... I am seriously fritzing.

Be sure to check out the other great organizations that other bloggers love here.

Right or Wrong?

Is doing the right thing always the best thing? Sometimes in order to do the right thing I think we stomp the tender hearts of precious people -  especially in regards to Christianity. I am struck again and again with the patience of God. How often my patience is lacking (and my trust that God actually does the work) and I feel I need to "set people straight". How often do my attempts to do the right thing interfere with the best thing - LOVE.

I do acknowledge that sometimes love requires us to step in and try to talk some sense into people before they get hurt, but I am wondering if too often we step in too soon and ruin the gentle tug of the Father's voice to his sweet child.

Just a thought.

Cloth Diapers

Simple Mom has just finished a series on cloth diapering. I REALLY wish I had started with CD. I am tempted to switch, but at this point am unsure if it would be cost effective. If you are just starting out with a wee one, I would recommend that you read her posts from the last week. If we have another i will probably go cloth, but that is a big if at this point.

Bonus: She is giving away some starter kits, so sign up to win. It is only going until Sunday.

Or don't sign up so I have a better odds of winning the giveaway for myself .   :)

Mom Jeans

Sooooo... I have worked out everyday for the last week and I have GAINED five pounds. Are you freaking kidding me?

I am afraid that soon I will have to resort to mom jeans.

Heaven help me.
