Movie Night

Why is it that when my sweet husband and I want to watch a video, B decides to stay up until 9:00 pm. It is a strange phenomena in our house.

We watched the movie, Fireproof. I am a bit of a cynic when it comes to "Christian" movies, but even with the cheesy acting, dramatic salvation scenes, and random silliness thrown in for good measure, they always suck me in. They always make me cry, because I love a happy ending.

The best thing about this movie was that it was the husband fighting for his marriage. So often men are portrayed as -the problem. While they are part of the problem it was refreshing to see the man doing some work for the marriage.

I am often surprised by how much wives work toward romancing their husbands, making time for them, creating a happy home, while men kick back, enjoy the hard work of the wife, and feel that they've done there part, because they bring home the bacon. (I know not all men are like this. I just hang out with a lot more women than I do men and I think that is a positive thing for my marriage :))

I also recognize that women can be very toxic to their spouse by the words they use. (There will be more about this in a later post). I don't want you to think that I am giving the ladies a free pass.

So, if you haven't seen the movie yet and want something to challenge your marriage, I would suggest renting Fireproof. Just be prepared for some goofy scenes that you just can't take seriously.

  1. I've heard a lot of good things about it, thanks for sharing.

  2. i found by 10 minutes in the acting didn't bother me. great movie - although i'm not sure that it would necessarily happen that way in real life.

  3. Thanks for this post. I loved the movie but of course I had some problems with it (i.e., the salvation scene, argh...) The Love Dare book written by the Kendricks is really good too.

I love comments! Tell me what's on your mind!
